Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 11)

Salut Cuffies,

Something tells me Zsa Zsa Gabor would go wild over this OOAK (or "one-of-a-kind") hand knitted steely gray cuff by Miami-based Etsy shop, Magical Mystery Tuca. The 8 1/2 inch adjustable piece is embellished with a hand beaded silver lace overlay, vintage rhinestones, bicone crystals, metal findings and shell beads. The result: An indulgent Doctor Zhivago-esque bracelet, seemingly plucked straight from lead actress, Julie Christie's wardrobe. What a decadently delicious way to keep any cuffy's' wrist fashionably toasty!

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 10)

Salut Cuffies,

As if plucked from Edgar Degas' lovely impressionistic painting The Green Dancer, this scrumptious hand embellished cuff by Etsy shop Bonheur is a feast for the senses. A fine example of "wearable art", this piece is a luxurious hodgepodge of emerald green vintage velvet, fine black mohair felt, black and forest green silk, vintage turquoise/black brocade, tulle, lace, shiny cut seed beads, sequins and pearls. Its lovely satin ribbon corseted closure reminds me of the worn slippers of an aspiring ballerina --- forever green, forever strong, forever graceful.

Cuffed and Clustered (Part 9)

Salut Cuffies,

A vintage brass filigree pendant is suspended on a dyed silk ribbon to create this marvelous wrap cuff. The simplicity of this design only adds to its beauty, and the rich saturated dark pink color of the ribbon is one of my all-time favorite hues. To ice the cake, Etsy shop Handmade By Nikki, actually donates 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this organic-looking piece to the Asha House, an orphanage in New Delhi, India that provides a safe haven for marginalized and at risk children. As refreshing as a tall glass of raspberry lemonade on an August afternoon, this earthy cuff will touch more lives than your own.

Cuffed and Clusted...(Part 8)

Salut Cuffies,

Talk about the "Midas touch"! I fell head over heels for this golden goose egg of a piece. Made of eco-leather, this big bow bracelet by Houston based Etsy shop, EPIPHANY6 & CO., has an edgy cartoonish glam about it (think Snow White at an Aerosmith concert...no???) that makes it stand out from the crowd. One size fits all thanks to its clever toggle and chain closure. Deliciously decadent and over-the-top, this piece is only for the brave at heart.

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 7)

Salut Cuffies,

A touch of something unexpected gives this cuff a "split" personality. The first thing I noticed was its stately vintage cameo focal cab. Next, the lady-like vintage lace trim caught my eye --- tres Victorian! But, look a little closer, because this piece has an slightly edgy side. Created by Etsy shop, Home Spun Jewelry, (located in the Pacific Northwest), this salmon colored sweetie actually uses a 7" zipper as its strapping! Called a "ziplet", it is embellished with vintage square, brilliantly reflective white beads, along with a few small synthetic pearl beads along the lace line, and topped off with a creamy mother of pearl button closure. How ladylike!

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 6)

Salut Cuffies,

Brick red romances black mortar in this fascinating marriage of leather and "lace". Laced up to perfection, this trendy cuff --- for men and women --- might have been blazay if not for its unique "hole-punch" motif. Crafted by the Denver-based urbanboutique out of premium leather, this 3.5 inch wide smooth finish cuff is actually finished on both sides for a refined and comfortable wear. Like a restored brownstone in the Heights of Brooklyn, it has an urban architectural feel that is both modern and weathered. Leather and "lace" never looked so good.

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 5)

Salut Cuffies,

Be at peace with nature in this zen-inspired cuff. In the capable hands of Kaleb and Jillian, husband and wife/owners of In Bloom Designs, a block of raw Pau Ferro wood has evolved into something much more. Notice the delicious rich coco brown band flecked with cinnamon highlights and polished to perfection. The subtle facets cut into the wood keep it from looking rustic, and a large pale amethyst focal stone, zoisite cylinders and gold wire wrapping give it a grown up sophistication that I really admire. A balanced reflection of the natural world, these Ontario Etsians clearly know a thing or two about organic beauty.

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 4)

Salut Cuffies,

At first glance, I couldn't quite figure this cuff out. So I took a second glance --- AND a look-see at the description (hehehe) --- and it all came together. San Fransisco designer/dancer, Liza of CBLadornments, created this expressive and modern looker using a technique she invented herself. Combining different textures of resin with other materials, her work simulates "captured motion". This particular piece reminds me of a bubbly cauldron of cherry flavored lava! Hand forged and encased in tin, recycled glass components add an eco-friendly touch. As grown and cosmopolitan as a "Cape Cod" (aka. Grey Goose and Cranberry juice) and the Manhattan skyline, this cuff deserves every bit of its double-take.

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 3)

Salut Cuffies,

This sunny cuff lit up my day. Made of recycled fabrics (The outside is from a vintage tablecloth, can you believe???), vintage hand-tatted lace trim, a soft cotton lining, and two white yarn buttons, it adjusts from 7 inches when both buttons are secured to 8.5 inches when only one is buttoned --- perfect for a small wrist gal like me! Besides cuffs, Helsinki designer Tuija, specializes in re-purposed goods such as pillow covers and bags --- and all seem to be inspired by the simplicity and purity of the Scandinavian countryside. Something about the golden yellow and homespun aura of this piece makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Like playing "He Loves Me Not" with a hand full of dandelions, this cuff is a smiley face for your arm.

Cuffed and Clustered... (Part 2)

Salut Cuffies,
There's still snow on the ground here, but this cotton candy dream cuff makes me hungry for a summer fair...Don't know if it's the ballerina pinks, the organic copper butterfly, the bits of sparkle throughout --- or a combination of all three --- but this piece makes me feel like daydreaming. Little details (like the fact that the butterfly has landed right next to three faux diamond "flowers") are what make this piece. Seandre' King, a New Orleans native now living in Sacramento, hand sews each bead. Pale pink pearls and a romantic mix of pink, burgundy, and clear seed beads blend perfectly with the rosy antiqued copper of the butterfly and chain. Finished off with a tan suede lining (for optimal wrist comfort) and an adjustable heart-shaped clasp --- it really couldn't get any sweeter.

Cuffed and Clustered...(Part 1)

Salut Cuffies!
On this dreary hump day Wednesday, I wanted to share with you one of the most exquisite cuffs I've seen in a long time. This sea-inspired beauty is knitted and crocheted into a delicious concoction of fine and oxidized silver wire, Swiss blue topaz, Turkish chalcedony, Chatoyant Aquamarine, lagoon blue Apatite, Vesuviante and Labradorite. If that wasn't enough to sweep you away in the tide, notice how it is finished with a lobster clasp and extender chain adorned with a selection of blue gems --- a clever feature which ensures a perfect fit! Part of Houston artist Claire Perse's "Wire Lace" collection, it is a chance for you to indulge in the majesty of the ocean...allllllll...day...long.

Lee
